Beagle Hit On Highway Is Left Behind, Veteran Speeds Across 3 Lanes Of Traffic

Vehicular accidents occur every day. We all pray that people handle these accidents responsibly but that isn’t always the case.

While driving down the highway, a veteran named Aaron Schneider, saw a dog lying on the side of the road. It was obvious that the dog was in distress after being hit by a car.

Aaron crossed over three lanes of speeding traffic to pull over and help. The caring man could see that the dog was badly wounded so he dialed 911.

They instructed him to wait there for Animal Control — but they didn’t arrive. He waited for three hours! Aaron had enough.

He made a stretcher with things he had in the car and placed the wounded dog on it. He put the pup in the back of his friend’s truck and they raced to the animal hospital.

The vet was hopeful even though the dog, now named Buster, had extensive injuries such as a few broken ribs, internal bleeding, and a torn windpipe.

Buster is on the mend and doing great. In fact, the animal hospital has assured everyone that he will soon be well enough to go to a forever home. When Aaron was asked about his lifesaving feat, he said:

“My combat lifesaver training kicked in and I’m thankful I was able to use it to help him. Having served in Iraq, you see a lot of loss, which is one of the reasons I was determined to see him make it.”

UPDATE: Aaron decided to adopt Buster since no one claimed him or stepped up to adopt him. It was always meant to be! Thank you, Aaron, for your quick-thinking and big heart.
