According to the ASPCA, approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs, 1.2 million of which are euthanized. These staggering facts prove that it’s important to adopt rescue animals.
Many of the animals that enter these shelters are rescued from terrible living conditions. After years of abuse, many people think these dogs are hopeless causes and are overlooked for a younger and vibrant pet. But that isn’t always the case. Our friends at BuzzFeed teamed up with the ASPCA to bring us 12 inspiring rescue dog transformations. This video proves what a difference a loving home can make.
Although some of the “before” photos are shocking and disturbing, what’s even crazier? You can clearly see that with just a little patience and the care, even the animals in the worst condition can be given a brand new lease on life, and pull a complete 180.
