Bella In Critical Condition After Owners Tied Rock To Her & Threw Her In River

Animal cruelty should never be taken lightly. When we take custody of an animal, it is our duty to treat them as we would our own children. Yet we see stories like this one and it truly shakes us to the core.

A couple has been arrested after their dog was found drowning in a river with a giant rock tied to her.

According to Nottinghamshire Police, the Belgian Shepherd was spotted by a Good Samaritan who then pulled her to safety.

Police were called in who then scanned the dog for a microchip. The chip was registered to the couple in 2010 and her name is Bella.

Bella is safe and sound under the supervision of the medical staff. She’s still in critical condition.

Officer Adam Pace is urging for the public’s help, “We are still appealing for information about the circumstances of the incident, including how many people were involved.”

Pace added: “Whilst the dog is still quite poorly she has been showing some encouraging signs by eating so hopefully she will be on the mend. This was an evil and nasty thing to do to this poor dog. We are lucky that the kind member of the public found and rescued her.”

The police urge the public to come forward with any information on any vehicles or persons who may be involved.

They added any dashcam footage or CCTV footage of the area could lead to more witnesses, evidence or a harsher sentence for the couple.

If you have any information, please contact Nottinghamshire Police immediately. We will not stand by and allow animals to be harmed!
