This stray, blind husky has his own guide dog – they are inseparable

A pair of dogs captured the hearts of animal lovers almost four years ago.

In 2013, workers at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter came across a blind Husky, Isaac, that had been wandering the street while accompanied by best buddy Isabella. The chihuahua-terrier mix may have been the smaller of the pair, but she was the one in charge of keeping them safe.

Without her around, Isaac was like a different dog—timid and easily disoriented. Whenever he wandered out of sight, Isabella called for him until he returned. Isaac trusted her completely.

“It’s just really remarkable how she’s always trying to be aware of where Isaac’s at and you know if he’s not right behind her, she’ll stop and wait for him to catch up with her,” a staff member at an animal hospital later said to KTLA. “It’s really funny, and I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

Unfortunately, the San Bernardino shelter couldn’t keep them around for long. They needed to free up space for incoming animals, so both dogs were scheduled to be euthanized. The shelter workers tried for a last-minute miracle by sharing Isaac and Isabella’s story on Facebook.
