Suffield Animal Control in Suffield, Connecticut, is seeking justice for a dog who had been tied to a tree in Stony Brook Park and left out to die overnight through a snowstorm.
The leash had wrapped around him and was cutting off circulation to his back legs. His fur was severely matted and had icicles hanging from it when he was found.
Luckily, animal control officers found him just in time and rushed him to the animal hospital where he is now being treated.
While his neglect was obvious just by looking at him, they discovered just how bad it really was. Once they shaved off his matted fur, they discovered a large tumor growing on his back leg, along with all of the cuts from the leash. He also had a very bad ear infection and infected teeth that need to be extracted.
The tumor will be removed as soon as possible, as well as tested for cancer. The pup, now named Brooks, is expected to recover, but still needs a lot of time to heal. Once he is fully recovered, he will be put up for adoption to find a loving forever home.
In the meantime, he will continue to be well taken care of, while animal control and the Suffield Police Department search for the evil monster who did this.
“We are looking to seek justice for this animal, and let it be known that animal cruelty doesn’t go unnoticed in our town,” Suffield Animal Control wrote on Facebook.
Staff at the Suffield pound who are looking after Brooks are on the same page.
“We will not stop fighting for justice for these animals who are left behind like they are worthless,” the pound wrote on GoFundMe.
