Owner Ties Beagle To Rope, Ties Rope To Truck & Steps On Gas Pedal

Dean the Beagle wants what every dog in the world wants: someone to love him and take care of him. Sadly, until recently, Dean’s life was far from happy.

The sweet Beagle was saved by a good Samaritan who witnessed the most unthinkable horror.

She saw the 8-year-old pooch being dragged down a road by a rope tied around his neck in Louisville, Kentucky. The other end of the rope was tied to a truck, and the person driving could care less.

The kind person who witnessed this abuse ran over to help the injured animal.

“Fortunately, he got out of the rope, and this person brought him in,” Kentucky Humane Shelter veterinarian Emily Bewley shared on social media. “It is a pretty nasty wound. He’s obviously lived a pretty terrible life, and it’s going to take a while to get him back to 100%.”

Despite everything he has been through, Dean wags his tail and wants to be around people. In addition to injuries sustained from the dragging incident, Dean also has a left ear hematoma and tested positive for heartworms.

He will be placed into a foster home for recovery and then placed up for adoption. As to the cruel person who tried to kill this innocent dog, anyone with information is asked to call Louisville Metro Police at 502-574-LMPD (5673).

Unfortunately, the driver sped away so anything the general public can do to bring this monster to justice is appreciated.

Dog Dragged by Truck Recovering at KHS

UPDATE: DOG DRAGGED BY TRUCK RECOVERING AT KHS: Dean is an eight-year-old Beagle who came to the Kentucky Humane Society last week from a rural shelter. Today we received additional information on how Dean was discovered. Dean was found by a Good Samaritan after watching him be dragged behind a truck on a country road. The finder heard the dog yell and went outside to see what was happening. Dean had a rope tied around his neck and was tied to the truck. Dean’s rope came loose and dropped, and the truck quickly sped off. Unfortunately the finder was unable to get a license plate number. We are horrified to hear what poor Dean has been through and are doing our best to keep him comfortable and pain free during his recovery. Want to help? Donations are gratefully accepted via Facebook or at www.kyhumane.org/donate. You’re welcome to make your gift in honor of Dean if you wish! KHS is a nonprofit and relies on donations to care for animals like Dean.
