German Shepherd Begins Caring For An Orphaned Fawn, Becomes Fawn Surrogate

A 9-year-old dog named Sarge has found his calling in life as a surrogate for orphaned fawns. But the German Shepherd had quite a different personality as a young pup.

He was grumpier then and always biting toes and chasing siblings around the house. But it all changed the day he met that first orphaned fawn in need, Buckwheat.

It was Sarge’s owner who found the baby deer lying in the middle of the road all alone. So she scooped him up and brought him home. Sarge then took on the role of guardian.

He ended up being the perfect babysitter for a scared and lonely fawn who needed someone to make him feel safe in life.

The two were inseparable and did everything together, but the time came for Buckwheat to be released back into the wild.

When word got out about Sarge’s surrogate aspirations and selflessness, Mom’s phone started ringing off the hook.

The German Shepherd now helps to rehabilitate orphaned and injured fawns, and he’s so happy every time a new one comes through the door!

It’s like Buckwheat all over again each time a new fawn arrives. Sarge has such a soft spot for these babies, and it’ll help save so many lives in the end. 🙂
