There are so many reasons we love dogs. They’re fun and adorable, but perhaps most importantly, they’re incredibly loyal. There is no shortage of instances of dogs stopping at nothing to save their owners. They seem to instinctively know what poses a threat to our health and safety.
That was the case of a young girl who had no idea what was going on until her father discovered that the family dogs were saving her from a rattlesnake.
Rodney Bacon heard his 3-year-old daughter yell at their German shepherd to stop pushing her, but he pulled her into their house before the father knew what was happening just outside their door.
When he heard all their dogs start barking at something outside, he simply had to investigate. They were all trying to defend the little girl and the dad from a coiled rattlesnake.
It was finally their pit bull, Gracie, who attacked the snake. Gracie was bitten in the process and ran away. The family feared the worst, but the next day, they found her in the same spot, where she had apparently killed another rattlesnake.
The hero pit bull had a swollen face, but the vet said she would recover from the bite!
