The one thing that is as unimaginable as dog abuse is dogs being used for human consumption. This is still happening and it’s an uphill battle.
Thankfully many rescuers refuse to give up. One dog, later named Dylan, was found in such horrible shape, rescuers weren’t even sure if they could help her.
But they still tried.

Authorities got involved in a raid of an illegal dog meat smuggling operation. The dogs were seized and then dropped off at a shelter.
The shelter had no medical supplies. The dogs had the basics (like corn and rice for food) but the pups in bad shape were basically left to perish.
That is when rescuers from Slaughterhouse Survivors got involved.

They came to the shelter asking for custody of the dogs who needed the most help. But they were denied over and over again.
That is the first time they met Dylan. Dylan was in a corner, suffering from the worst case of mange they had ever seen! She was totally bald and her skin was painful and raw.
Still, the shelter wouldn’t give her to the rescuers.
They continued to hound the shelter workers, and finally, they came to the compromise that they could treat Dylan on shelter grounds.
Each time they visited Dylan, they bathed her with medicated shampoo. This greatly helped Dylan but the rescuers knew they had to get custody of all the dogs. The shelter was like a prison.
