Puppy Found In Box On Roadside In 100-Degree Heat Flies 2,000 Miles To New Home

A passerby on a road trip in El Paso happened to glance down and saw a cardboard box on the side of the road.

The kind person got out of the car in the triple-digit heat and hurried over to see what was inside the box.

There were two small Labrador Retriever puppies left to bake and die in the heat. The kind person took them to authorities who turned both adorable pups over to the Animal Rescue League of El Paso.

It didn’t take long after posting their photos on Facebook to find them both forever homes. However, one of the puppies had a 2,000-mile journey to find his happily ever after.

One of the pups, named Harris, found a forever home in Raleigh, North Carolina, which would take 26 hours by car. Luckily, Dallas-based Southwest Airlines stepped up.

One of their flight attendants, Marcel Stratton, agreed to use her days-off flying privileges to take Harris to his new home.

Of course, that meant the flight attendant and her friends had a lot of fun posing for photos, cuddling the pup, and making sure he received the best care possible throughout his trip.

As a final update on Harris’ journey, the Animal Rescue League of El Paso posted to Facebook.

They wrote, “We want to thank Marcel, Southwest Airlines, the Wyndham hotel in El Paso, and all the crew members Harris met along the way. This little guy was left on the side of the road in a box a few weeks ago. Today because of all your efforts he begins his fabulous, loving life with a family of his own.”

We wish you all the best in your new home, Harris.
