Beloved Children’s Therapy Dog Diagnosed With Cancer, She Needs Our Prayers Now

Cook Children’s Hospital has shared devastating news about their beloved therapy dog named Journey. Journey has been diagnosed with lymphoma, a form of cancer that can arise from any tissue.

As of now, the sick therapy dog has been relieved from all her duties while she receives chemotherapy.

Lymphoma is rarely curable, but timely detection and treatment can help keep the cancer in check. Lymphoma in Golden Retrievers is “treatable but not curable”.

In Journey’s case, the cancer is still in its early stages. She has just begun treatment and doctors will assess her response to the treatment from time to time.

During her treatment, Journey will be wearing a burgundy vest as a strict warning for people that she mustn’t be petted.

Patients and well-wishers are allowed to see her and boost her morale, but they are advised not to touch her as a part of chemo protocol.

This diagnosis has been very hard to process for Journey, her handlers, the hospital staff and the sick children who love her and depend on her.

Poor Journey feels lost too, and she just wants to get back to comforting the patients as soon as possible. Let’s send her our prayers and pray that she recovers soon!
