Woman Banishes Severely Injured Yorkie To Basement With No Food Or Water

One thing that sadly remains a constant factor in the world is animal abuse. The folks at Lollypop Farm in Rochester, New York, know this all too well. They recently got involved to save an eight-year-old Yorkshire Terrier.

Thanks to a maintenance worker at an apartment building in the city, the small dog named Izzy is getting a second chance. The man found Izzy immobile and locked away in a basement with a severe injury.

The quick-thinking employee phoned the building manager who rushed the dog to the vet for treatment.

“The veterinarian who treated Izzy said she was in such bad condition, the matted fur had cut a 1-inch gash into her leg,” shared Reno Di Domenico, Vice President for Humane Law Enforcement with Lollypop Farm. “The injury was left untreated, which led to infection and hindered Izzy’s ability to walk.

As a result, 26-year-old Dinisha Chapple was arrested. She was charged with failure to provide sustenance, which is considered a misdemeanor crime.

We are grateful for the maintenance worker who took the time to get this dog out of harm’s way.
