Man Is About To Surrender His dog, But A Letter From The Previous Owner Has Him In Tears

When you move to a new city, one of the first things you seek is some company, whether it’s in the form of friends or pets. But this man’s new pet ended up changing his life.

Reggie, a 6-year-old Labrador, was adopted from a shelter by a man who had just moved to the city. The man wanted a friend and someone to talk to in the new city, and since he loved dogs, he thought a dog from the shelter would be perfect.

The man tried to get Reggie to play with him or even be active, but as the days went by, it became clear to him that Reggie and he were not a good fit. As the shelter had a two-week return period for such cases, the man was ready to take Reggie back. That’s when he came upon a letter from Reggie’s previous owner that he had somehow forgotten to open till now.

This is the story and letter:

As it turned out, Reggie’s (or Tank’s) previous owner was a soldier named Paul Mallory who had hoped his dog would find a loving home. Mallory was killed in action saving his three friends.

This letter changed the way the man perceived life. He saw Tank, and his own life, in a whole new way and has renewed gratitude and respect for those who serve and their loved ones.
