92-Year-Old Woman Forced To Give Up Best Friend For Senior Care, But Dog Gets ‘Adopted’

A 92-year-old woman was forced to give up her best friend before entering a senior care facility, and it was heartbreaking. They didn’t allow dogs, and she had to undergo surgery before entering the home. So she had to say goodbye to Sir Blacky.

The 12-year-old Chihuahua mix was put in the Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento, California. It was a sad situation for everyone involved. But Sir Blacky’s story was about to take a turn for the better.

When volunteers at the shelter posted about Sir Blacky’s story, it went viral and was shared over 20,000 times! After only one night in the shelter, the dog had plenty of potential adopters.

That’s where Donna Ortiz comes into the story. She formally “adopted” Sir Blacky but prefers to say she is just fostering the dog until circumstances allow for a reunion with his owner. “It sounds like she’s just going to the nursing home to rehabilitate,” Ortiz said. “My thing would be, if it’s possible, to reunite her with him.”

How about that? The best thing possible came out of what was once a terribly sad story for an older woman and her best friend of many years. We can’t wait until the woman gets to see her dog again! 🙂
