Super Fast Dachshund Competes In Agility Competition. Go, Long-Dog, GO!

Did you know that Dachshunds are actually quite agile and very good athletes despite their short legs and long body?

Well, doxies are hound-type dogs after all. The standard sized dachshunds were developed to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature dachshunds were bred to hunt smaller prey such as rabbits. In the United States, they have also been used to track wounded deer and hunt prairie dogs.

Penny may not be your typical dachshund you see in your neighborhood, but you'll see how agile and active dachshunds can be when you see her competing in this dog agility competition!

(in case you're not familiar with dog agility competitions – they are where a dog runs a set course of little humps, ramps, tunnels and assorted other obstacles.)

Penny, the dachshund entered this competition and won her first blue ribbon. She is one super fast dachshund! She ran a perfect trial and never missed a beat. In fact, she looks like she was enjoying every minute of it.

Perhaps the best part of her performance was how she nimbly weaves her way in between the seven or eight posts without missing a single one and in record time too.

Check out the video on the next page to see Penny compete! You'll also see that dog agility competitions are not just for dogs!
