Tommie, a Pit Bull, saw the worst side of humanity, when someone in Richmond, Virginia, intentionally tied him up to a pole and doused him in flammable liquid, before setting him on fire.
Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) rescued Tommie, and later shifted him to Virginia Veterinary Centers, where he was being treated for over 40 percent burns in his body. As RACC shared Tommie’s plight on social media, people were enraged to see this loathsome act of cruelty.
Donations poured in from all sides, as people anxiously followed all the updates on Tommie’s health. But sadly, Tommie succumbed to his fatal injuries and passed away. RACC updated that he was surrounded by love and care in his final moments, and his death was painless.

Needless to say, people are enraged at the perpetrator of this heinous crime. Witnesses saw an adult male suspect wearing multiple layers of pants running away. RACC is offering $25,000 for any information that could lead to his arrest. We hope he is brought to justice soon.

RACC has also created a “Tommie Fund” to help provide emergency vet care to animals in need at RACC. A memorial service for Tommie will be held at the Pet Memorial Park Cemetery in Henrico, Virginia, where he will be laid to rest on February 23rd at 4 PM (EST). We have no words, just tears. Rest in peace, dear Tommie.
