Family’s Senior Dog Shot Intentionally With Crossbow In Their Yard

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is asking for help from the general public after a family dog was shot by a crossbow.

It all started when a call came in to check on an injured dog in the Dewey/Humboldt area of Arizona.

On arrival to the scene, police found an eight-year-old Mastiff named Django dead, the victim of a “projectile shot from a crossbow.”

According to the dog’s owners, they let him out for a final bathroom break close to midnight and have no idea what happened. Authorities were unable to find any suspects or witnesses in the area and all leads are being investigated.

A representative from YCSO shared, “There is little doubt the death of this dog was intentional.”

The grieving family is trying to sort through their feelings as they process what happened to their beloved dog.

One of the dog’s owners stated, “He has been in our daughter’s life since she was one, and she refers to him as her ‘brother.’ He was known as a gentle giant, loved by everyone, and not a mean bone in his body.”
