On a cracked strip of pavement in Santa Monica, California, a young white husky sat tethered to a pole, watching the street with quiet hope.
The puppy, later named Buckley, had been abandoned with no food, no water, and no shelter — just a leash and a stretch of sidewalk.

Days passed. Buckley remained.
Then, finally, someone stopped.
A local rescuer spotted the 6-month-old pup’s soulful brown eyes and knew immediately she couldn’t walk away. Buckley was soon in the safe care of Love Leo Rescue, finally off the streets and in good hands.

Despite being left behind, Buckley’s spirit hadn’t dimmed.
“Buckley is an exceptional dog,” said Sasha Abelson, director of Love Leo Rescue. “He’s well-balanced, affectionate, and didn’t let his past define him. His personality is just lovely.”
After being rescued, Buckley was placed with a foster family, where he quickly embraced the joys of companionship, adventure, and belly rubs.
Now thriving, Buckley is living up to every bit of his breed’s playful, energetic nature.
“He’s a happy-go-lucky husky,” said Abelson. “He loves hiking, playing with his dog friends, and curling up beside his people. He’s the kind of dog who’s ready to be someone’s best friend.”

Buckley is currently still looking for a forever home — one that matches his energy and loving nature. An ideal fit? An active household with another friendly dog to keep him company.
“We think a playful, balanced dog sibling would be perfect for him,” Abelson added.
Buckley may have been forgotten once, but now he’s just waiting for the right person to see him — and never look away.
