Truck driver and TikTok user Triune Blades was making his usual rounds down a quiet rural road when something small and fast caught his eye.
A tiny figure darted across the road and disappeared into the tall grass. Without hesitation, Blades hit the brakes, pulled over, and stepped out to investigate.
As he peered into the grass, a tiny kitten emerged — meowing loudly as if calling for help.
The kitten, later named Cali, didn’t hesitate for a second. She marched straight up to Blades and jumped into his arms, clearly seeing him as her rescuer.
He looked around for any sign of her mom or littermates, or even a nearby farmhouse she could have wandered from — but there was nothing.
“I don’t see any farms,” Blades explained in a TikTok video. “There’s none down there. There’s not a farm until three miles down that way.”
Cali, meanwhile, had made her decision. She continued to meow in his arms, so Blades made a decision too: he was taking her with him, at least until he could figure out where she belonged.
Back in the truck, Cali climbed up onto Blades' shoulder and stayed there — clearly relieved to be safe.
“We're safe and sound in the truck,” Blades shared. “She seems to want human contact, but she's still so young that I can tell she's also wanting her mama.”
After some shoulder climbing and lots of tiny meows, the exhausted kitten curled up in Blades’ backpack and drifted off to sleep.
Despite his efforts, Blades was never able to find where Cali had come from.
So, he brought her home — and she fit right in. His family already had another calico cat, so welcoming a second just felt right.
“Cali is loving the snuggles with her new humans AND her new pupper buddy, Chester,” Blades wrote. “She’s fit in perfectly already. We all love her so much.”
A chance roadside rescue turned into a forever home — and a very lucky kitten gained the love she’d been calling out for.
