Emaciated Puppy Found in Bronx Apartment Refuses to Give Up

A woman living in a Bronx apartment building recently spotted a ghostly figure wandering the halls — a frail, malnourished puppy barely clinging to life. Her heart broke when she locked eyes with the skeletal brown-and-white pup, later named Baby Gina.

Without hesitation, the woman called Second Chance Rescue, who rushed to the scene and quickly brought the puppy to safety.

When rescuers first met Baby Gina, she was dangerously underweight, visibly weak, and vomiting. Her ribs protruded sharply through her thin skin, a clear sign of prolonged starvation. Despite her fragile state, her eyes still held a quiet spark — a sign that she hadn’t given up.

“There are so many unknowns,” the rescue shared in an emotional Facebook post. “We are just praying she can pull through. She is just a baby.”

As Baby Gina’s story spread across social media, thousands of people rallied behind her, offering encouragement, prayers, and donations. Even a local news station picked up the story, helping raise awareness and support for her recovery.

“Gina is so grateful to be surrounded by so much love,” the rescue team wrote. “She inspires everyone she meets.”

Now under the careful watch of Second Chance Rescue, Baby Gina is slowly healing. With nourishing food, medical care, and affection, she’s gaining weight, strength — and confidence. Her caretakers have even outfitted her in cozy sweaters to keep her warm during recovery.

“She’s still hospitalized, but she’s doing well,” Second Chance wrote in an update. “She’s happy, she’s loved, and she’s fighting to heal.”

Though her journey isn’t over yet, Baby Gina’s resilience is undeniable. And with time, love, and continued care, this brave little pup will soon trade hospital walls for a forever home — and a soft bed she can finally call her own.
