Late last year, dog rescuer Karla Schneider Boss received an urgent call: a tiny, blind puppy was wandering through traffic on a busy street, narrowly dodging cars. The thought of such a vulnerable dog in danger was heartbreaking.
“I can’t imagine a little puppy that size in the middle of the street, but especially a blind puppy,” rescue group Frankie Lola and Friends shared on Instagram.

Boss named the pup Madison and brought her home to safety. Though Madison initially struggled — bumping into furniture and walls — her spirit never wavered.
“She was so cute and so brave,” Boss told The Dodo. “She’s like, ‘I’ll figure this out. I got it.’”

Just one week later, fate delivered an unexpected surprise: Boss rescued Madison’s sister and named her Sissy. When the two were reunited, Madison immediately brightened up. It was as if no time had passed.
“It was like they hadn’t even been apart,” Boss said. “It was adorable.”
As the sisters grew, they leaned on each other for comfort and confidence. But eventually, Sissy was adopted by a woman named Cynthia Howard. While it was a happy ending for Sissy, Madison remained behind — still waiting for her forever home.

Howard, however, couldn’t stop thinking about Madison.
“I kept seeing puppy Madison pop up,” she said. “She wasn’t getting adopted. And I kept telling my husband, ‘What if we adopted her sister?’ And he said, ‘Sure!’”
So, once again, the sisters — now renamed Zoey (Madison) and Lulu (Sissy) — were brought back together. They picked up right where they left off, cuddling and playing as if they’d never been apart.

Howard made every effort to ensure Zoey would feel comfortable and confident in her new environment. She added scent markers, hung bells on doors, and even removed sharp furniture.

“[Zoey] is SO capable,” Howard shared. “It’s been such an inspiration to watch her grow.”

With Lulu by her side as both sister and guide, Zoey is thriving — and this time, their bond won’t be broken again.
