Biker Slams on Brakes After Spotting 4 Soaked Puppies Tied to Gate in the Rain

While riding down a quiet lane in Alrewas, England, a biker was enjoying the peaceful scenery when something unusual caught their attention — four fluffy puppies, tied to a gate, completely alone and exposed to the elements.

Realizing something wasn’t right, the biker quickly contacted the RSPCA. An inspector, Graeme Brookes, was dispatched to the scene and arrived to find a heartbreaking sight.

“They were cold, wet, shivering, and terrified,” Brookes told The Dodo. “It looked like they’d been dumped in the early morning hours and left behind.”

Despite their fear, the four cockapoo pups — just 10 months old — seemed relieved that someone had come to help. As Brookes gently loaded them into his van, one puppy was so frightened she couldn’t even walk.

“I had to carry her,” Brookes said. “She locked eyes with me the whole time and wouldn’t look away. When we got to the vet, she wouldn’t leave my side.”

The pups’ fur was matted and packed with sawdust, requiring full shaves to get them clean and comfortable. Miraculously, aside from their emotional trauma, they were in good health.

Though each of the dogs had a microchip, the contact details were outdated. The RSPCA has launched an investigation into how they ended up abandoned, and where they may have come from.

In the meantime, the pups are safe and recovering at an emergency boarding facility — warm, dry, and finally getting the care they deserve.

“These poor dogs didn’t deserve to be left like that,” said Brookes. “But now, at least, they have a second chance.”
