Peanut is a playful, sun-loving 5-year-old dog with a goofy grin and a big heart. He adores playing fetch, soaking up sunshine, and snuggling with the people he trusts.
“Peanut is loyal, playful, and affectionate with his favorite people,” The Vanderpump Dog Foundation shared on Instagram.

But despite his sweet personality, Peanut has spent more than 500 days in the shelter — and nearly his entire life waiting for a place to call home.
Peanut was first adopted as a puppy, but not long after, he was returned. Since then, he's bounced between homes and shelters, never truly given the chance to feel safe or settle in.

After being let down so many times, Peanut has grown wary of strangers. When visitors walk past his kennel, he usually retreats to the back, too scared to make eye contact. He’s often overlooked, labeled “too shy” or “unadoptable.”
But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“He’s terrified of people and invisible to adopters,” rescue advocate @savethedogs shared on TikTok. “They say he’s unadoptable. But really, he’s just been waiting five years for someone he can trust.”
Underneath the fear is a completely different dog — one who craves affection and lights up when he’s with people he knows. Peanut is beloved by the shelter staff and volunteers, who’ve seen just how joyful and cuddly he can be once his guard comes down.
“He loves belly rubs, snuggling, and being goofy with the people he trusts,” The Vanderpump Dog Foundation wrote. “But because of his past, he needs time to feel safe. He just needs someone willing to be patient and kind.”
Peanut is looking for a quiet, adult-only home where he can be the only dog. He thrives with structure, routine, and a person who will guide him gently and consistently.
“He’s not broken — he’s just been let down,” the foundation said. “If you understand what it means to be cautious with your heart, Peanut might be your perfect match.”

Peanut hasn’t given up hope. He’s still waiting — not for just any home, but for the right one. A home where love is earned slowly, but given completely.

Sometimes, the best friendships just take a little time to begin.
