When Rocía H. first saw Quesito’s face on her friend’s Instagram Story, she wasn’t looking to adopt. She was still grieving the loss of Whiskey, her beloved soul dog, and couldn’t imagine opening her heart again so soon.
But something about Quesito — his golden fur, bright eyes, and joyful smile — stopped her in her tracks.
“When I saw his face, I felt something so special inside of me, like a gut feeling,” Rocía said. “I fell in love with him in just a second.”

Still, grief made her hesitant. She put her phone down, telling herself she wouldn’t apply. But throughout the day, she kept going back to the post, her heart tugging a little harder each time.
Finally, she decided to fill out the application — certain there was no way she’d be chosen.

Just hours later, she got a message from Yarha, head of Canhijos TJ. Rocía had been approved for an interview. Yarha told her about Quesito’s gentle nature, his love for everyone, and the fact that he was one of 11 puppies — some already adopted. But then she added one more detail.
“She said Quesito was very close to his sibling, Limón,” Rocía recalled. “They weren’t asking me to take both, but she wanted me to know.”

It was a big ask for someone only just ready to adopt one dog. But when Rocía saw Limón’s picture, she felt the same instant pull she’d felt with Quesito.
“I couldn’t resist falling in love with him as well,” she said. “I told her, if I’m approved, I want both.”

Soon, Quesito and Limón were officially hers. They went home together — never separated, never looking back.
Rocía’s parents, her senior dog Cual, and her cat Horchata welcomed them warmly, and the new family quickly fell into step.

The brothers are inseparable. Limón, with his long legs, often wraps them around Quesito in a tight hug — a habit he’s extended to Rocía’s mother’s therapy patients, offering them quiet comfort. Quesito matches his brother’s affection with gentle companionship, their bond unshakable.

“Limón has larger legs than Quesito, and we always say that he was given longer arms/legs so he could hug, because he LOVES hugging,” Rocía said. “My mom is a therapist, and Limón always gives emotional support to her patients, mostly by hugging.”

Both Quesito and Limón have become proud emotional support dogs for their grandma’s patients, and they’ve even bonded with Cual and Horchata. Everyone in the house is happy to have them, but Rocía is especially grateful that the pair arrived when she least expected it.
“Quesito and Limón came into my life at a very unpredictable time,” Rocía said. “I wasn’t even considering another dog after my loss, but they showed me love is possible again.”
Now, whether they’re curled up together or greeting the day with wagging tails, Quesito and Limón live exactly as they dreamed — side by side, in a home full of love.
