When Natalea Bowling and Dalton Polly set out on their ATVs near their Kentucky home, they expected a fun ride. But before long, they noticed three fluffy little figures racing alongside them — tails wagging, paws scrambling to keep up.
Curious, they stopped to investigate. That’s when they realized there weren’t just three puppies — four more were running down the road to join them.
“They were very happy to see us,” Bowling told The Dodo.
The puppies were skinny and clearly hungry, but otherwise seemed healthy. It didn’t take long for the couple to piece things together: someone had likely dumped the litter by the railroad tracks, and when the pups spotted the ATVs, they saw their chance to beg for help.
Bowling and Polly knew they couldn’t leave them behind. So they carefully coaxed the pups over, earning their trust bit by bit, until they were able to load all seven onto the ATV for the ride home.
To their surprise, the journey was calm and sweet.
“Honestly, I was shocked, but they did so good,” Bowling said. “They all laid on the floorboard until one of them came up and sat in my lap the whole way.”
Safe at last, the puppies — around 8 or 9 weeks old — are now thriving in the couple’s care. What were once hungry little strays are quickly turning into “chunky babies,” full of love, playfulness, and cuddles.
“They are all so sweet and playful,” Bowling said. “But they also just want to lay on you and be loved.”
Soon, each of these lucky pups will be ready for a forever home — and Bowling and Polly couldn’t be more grateful that their ATV ride led them to exactly where they were needed most.
