Recently, Esme’s family decided to come clean about her life of crime.
They set up a small sign outside their home explaining their cat’s behavior, along with a clothesline full of stolen goods — mostly gloves — hoping to reunite the missing items with their rightful owners.
The sight has quickly gone viral online, as neighbors and animal lovers everywhere can’t get enough of Esme’s unapologetic mischief.
It’s unclear when her sneaky adventures began, but it seems Esme has been collecting her “treasures” for quite some time.
Luckily, her family is doing their best to make amends — and from the looks of it, at least one relieved neighbor has already reclaimed their missing property.
As for Esme, she may never shake her reputation as the neighborhood cat burglar … but she doesn’t seem too bothered. After all, it’s hard to stay mad at a thief this adorable.
