When Franzlei Yuson brought home a cat named Kimchi about a year ago, she was thrilled by how quickly the little orange cat bonded with her two Shih Tzus, Koa and Kumi.
The trio became inseparable — often snuggling on the couch or napping together like siblings who had known each other forever.

“Kimchi will cuddle up with them sometimes,” Yuson told The Dodo. “They’ll just sit there together on the couch.”
But one day, that peaceful harmony suddenly vanished — and the reason had Yuson laughing so hard she could barely take a photo.
Koa and Kumi had just come back from their yearly grooming session, where Yuson’s husband completely shaved off their fur to keep their skin clean and healthy. When they returned home looking like two completely different dogs, Kimchi was not amused.

“That was the first time she saw them like that,” Yuson said. “She didn’t recognize them at all.”
As soon as Kimchi laid eyes on the newly shaven pups, her fur puffed up, her back arched, and she started hissing — convinced that two mysterious “intruders” had entered her house.
“She did the angry cat position and hissed at them,” Yuson said. “And she’s never done that before — not even when she first arrived.”
Meanwhile, Koa and Kumi were completely oblivious to the chaos. They wagged their tails and rolled around playfully, confused about why their best friend suddenly seemed so mad.
“The dogs didn’t even have any idea what was going on,” Yuson said with a laugh.

Poor Kimchi, still unsettled, retreated to the guest room and refused to come out for hours. “She hid upstairs for four hours,” Yuson said. “Even though it was funny, I felt kind of bad.”
Eventually, curiosity got the best of her. Kimchi cautiously crept out, sniffed the “strangers,” and suddenly realized — these weren’t intruders at all. They were her beloved Koa and Kumi, just with bad haircuts.

“Within ten minutes, she was back to normal once she realized it was them,” Yuson said.

Today, the furry siblings are back to cuddling as if nothing happened. But one thing’s for sure — the next time Koa and Kumi come home freshly shaved, Kimchi’s reaction will definitely be worth watching all over again.
