When Maria Yabetta heard about a domestic bunny wandering alone in Lafreniere Park in New Orleans, she didn’t hesitate for a second. As a seasoned rabbit rescuer, she’s helped her share of frightened, skittish bunnies — but the little one waiting for her that day was nothing like that.
The moment Yabetta arrived, the bunny ran straight toward her.
“What a treat to be greeted with such excitement,” Yabetta wrote on TikTok.
The tiny rabbit pressed up against her legs, soaking up every gentle pet she could get, as if to say, “Finally — someone came for me.”
According to park visitors, the sweet bunny had been hopping up to people for more than two weeks, quietly begging for help. Dozens had stopped to look, but none had stepped in — until Yabetta.
“Turns out this pretty girl was asking to be rescued for more than 2 weeks,” she wrote.
Yabetta named her Clementine, a name as soft and sunny as her personality. Within minutes, Clementine was accepting nose kisses and cuddles, her trust so immediate it broke Yabetta’s heart to think she’d ever been left behind.
When offered treats, Clementine wasn’t interested — she only wanted affection.
“Bunnies bond with people just like cats or dogs,” Yabetta explained. “It’s obvious this bunny felt bonded to someone. She was actively seeking someone to take her home.”
Yabetta couldn’t believe Clementine had survived so long in the park — abandoned, vulnerable, and still so hopeful. Thankfully, her search for kindness had finally led her to the right person.
Now safe with Yabetta, Clementine spends her days basking in love and attention while waiting for her forever family.
“She’s gonna be a great addition to someone’s family,” Yabetta said. “She’s just pure sweetness — all she wants is to be loved.”
