Employees at Gator Ford recently found themselves involved in an unexpected rescue after hearing strange scratching noises coming from the ceiling of their break room.
At first, staff members brushed it off. But after the sound continued for over an hour, one employee named Christina decided to investigate.
She climbed up and carefully moved one of the ceiling panels aside.
Looking back at her was a tiny baby squirrel.
The little animal had somehow wandered into the ceiling space and appeared unable to escape on his own.
Christina gently retrieved the frightened squirrel and carried him outside, hoping to safely release him near some nearby trees. But the rescue didn’t exactly go as expected.
“I tried setting him down, but he didn’t want to leave her,” employee Joey Keenan later told The Dodo.
Another staff member, Tom Dossett, stepped in to help, carefully holding the baby squirrel while the team discussed contacting a local wildlife rescuer.
Then something incredible happened.
As they walked back toward the building looking for a box to temporarily keep the baby safe, the employees noticed an adult squirrel nearby intently watching everything they were doing.
“The squirrel started getting unusually close to us,” Tom explained. “That’s when we realized it was probably the mom.”
Believing the mother squirrel was searching for her baby, Tom carefully gave the tiny squirrel an opportunity to reunite with her.

Within moments, the emotional reunion was complete.
The mother squirrel quickly reclaimed her baby, bringing an overwhelming sense of relief and excitement to everyone watching.
“It was honestly amazing to witness,” Joey said. “You could see the mother cared just as much as any parent would.”
While rescuing wildlife certainly isn’t part of the dealership employees’ everyday responsibilities, the unforgettable moment left a lasting impact on the whole team.
“We love the wildlife around here,” Tom said. “Seeing that reunion definitely made everyone’s day.”
