Body Cam Shows Officers Braving Busy Interstate To Save Tiny Kitten Frozen In Fear

Earlier this week, Washington State Patrol (WSP) dispatchers in Pierce County began receiving a series of alarming calls: A tiny kitten had been spotted on the interstate, pressed against the center divide with cars roaring past just feet away.

Two patrol officers rushed to the scene, fearing the worst — and hoping they weren’t too late.

Their body camera footage captured the tense rescue as the frightened kitten tried to make himself invisible against the concrete barrier.

With traffic whizzing by, the officers carefully approached and scooped him into safety, then settled him gently on one officer’s lap for the ride back.

The kitten was immediately taken to an animal hospital for a veterinary exam. Thankfully, he was safe — and his day was about to get even better.

No one knows exactly how he ended up alone on the interstate, but one thing is clear: his luck changed the moment those troopers arrived.

According to WSP, a district trooper later volunteered to give the kitten a home.

Online, people flooded the post with praise for the officers’ compassion. One commenter wrote:

“Our troopers, sheriffs and police officers risk their lives daily on our busy roads and highways. I’m glad to see that they don’t discount any life, including that of a kitten, when it comes to their own safety. Thank you!”

Thanks to their quick action — and big hearts — the little kitten now has a safe place to grow up.

“Just another day of purr-tecting and serving,” WSP joked.
