Meet Oscar — a charming tabby cat who has unofficially appointed himself as the friendly face of his local supermarket in Stowmarket, Suffolk, England.
From greeting shoppers at the door to keeping an eye on their carts, Oscar has made it his mission to enhance the Tesco shopping experience — one purr at a time.
“He was there earlier and was very interested in our shopping,” shopper Nathan Tupper shared on Facebook. Another visitor, Donna Fisk, added, “So many people were smiling when they saw him … he, however, was completely oblivious.”

Oscar’s daily appearances have made him a beloved figure in the community. But this isn't just a hobby — it's a lifestyle.
A Well-Balanced Life Between Work and Home
Though Oscar spends much of his time on “duty,” he maintains a healthy work-life balance. At the end of the day, he returns home to his loving family — Slyvie Nolan and her other furry companions.
“Oscar is home,” his family posted on his dedicated Facebook page. “He does come home every day.”

Oscar’s foray into supermarket life started years ago. According to Nolan, his passion for patrolling Tesco began when he was just a year old.
“He’s been doing this since he was about [1 year old],” she told the East Anglian Daily Times. “When I took the dogs for a walk, he would always follow us to Tesco.”

And ever since, Oscar has taken his self-declared role as store ambassador quite seriously.

On the Job and Off the Clock
Oscar may be a natural at customer service, but even the most dedicated employee needs a break. During long shifts, he sneaks in a quick nap or takes a lunch break to recharge.
After all, being a local legend is hard work.

But Oscar’s friendly nature isn’t just reserved for humans. He’s an equal-opportunity greeter. One day, a curious magpie stopped by during Oscar’s shift — and the two quickly bonded.

Whether it’s chatting with customers, cozying up to a bird, or lounging near the carts, Oscar does it all with quiet confidence and charm.
A Local Icon With a Loyal Following
Oscar’s adventures have earned him a devoted fanbase online. Locals and tourists alike visit the store just to catch a glimpse of the famous feline. But no matter how much attention he receives, Oscar always knows when it’s time to call it a day.
“Once I’ve finished my shift … I walk home for food and cuddles from my mummy and daddy,” his family wrote.
For those hoping to keep up with Oscar’s supermarket escapades, he’s just a click away — follow him on Facebook to see where his paws take him next.
