Cat Devastated After Losing His Favorite Hanger Gets the Sweetest Christmas Surprise

Chico’s life has completely transformed since his days on the street.

Found crying outside an apartment door in 2019, he was rescued by Tori Roman, who had just moved into her own place and was ready to open her heart — and home — to a feline friend.

“He’s a street cat turned spoiled indoor cat,” Roman told The Dodo. “He got used to the good life pretty quickly.”

As Chico settled into his new life of luxury, he developed an unusual but heartfelt obsession — a single velvet clothes hanger.

It all started during laundry day. While his parents were folding clothes, Chico stumbled upon their lone velvet hanger — and instantly claimed it as his own.

From that day on, it became his favorite toy. Whenever the closet door creaked open, Chico could be found pawing through the hangers, always in search of the one.

“He’s obsessed,” Roman said. “We usually have to pull him away from sorting through the hangers … or just give in and remove whatever’s hanging on the velvet one so he can play with it.”

But then — disaster. Chico’s pittie brother, Murphy, curious about what made this hanger so special, decided to give it a go.

Unfortunately, his playful antics ended in destruction, leaving Chico without his prized possession. He sat beneath the closet, forlorn, staring up at the hangers as if waiting for his velvet treasure to return.

When Chico’s aunt asked what he wanted for Christmas, Roman didn’t hesitate. She sent a video of the heartbroken cat under the closet rail and made his one wish very clear.

And this year, Chico’s Christmas wish came true.

“Merry Christmas to Chico,” Roman captioned a TikTok video showing him reunited with his beloved velvet hanger.

It wasn’t the first time Murphy had destroyed one of Chico’s hangers — and it probably won’t be the last. But every time it happens, the family replaces it. Even though Roman’s husband isn’t a fan of velvet hangers, they keep buying them.

Because, in their house, Chico’s happiness comes first — and to him, a velvet hanger is everything.
