When the lights go out and the world drifts off to sleep, one little cat’s night is just getting started.
Meet Sheldon — a spirited black cat from Ukraine with a heart full of mischief and a bedtime routine that’s anything but restful.

“Sheldon is a small, active rascal who’s always up to something,” his mom, Nadia, told The Dodo. “But at night … that’s when he truly comes alive.”

After countless nights of hearing mysterious thuds, meows and rustling sheets, Nadia and her partner decided it was time to find out what was really happening while they slept. So, they set up a camera in their bedroom — and what they captured was pure chaos.
“A decision was made to buy a camera to record the bedroom 24/7,” Nadia said. “I thought what Sheldon does is very funny, and I wanted to film it.”
In the videos, Sheldon can be seen sprinting across the bed like a tiny tornado, pouncing on invisible prey, and even growling and meowing mid-leap — all while his sleepy humans try to snooze through the commotion.
She put together a compilation of some of Sheldon’s over-the-top antics:
“He runs across the bed like a demon in the middle of the night,” Nadia laughed. “It’s often accompanied by all kinds of sounds — meowing, growling … you name it!”
Here’s more footage of Sheldon in action, doing his best to keep the sandman at bay:
While cats aren’t technically nocturnal, they are crepuscular — meaning they’re most active at dawn and dusk. And for Sheldon, nighttime seems to be prime playtime.
Luckily, his parents take it all in stride.

“He perceives night activities as entertainment,” Nadia said. “We’ve gotten used to it.”
For them, Sheldon’s late-night antics are just another reminder of how happy and comfortable he feels at home — a once-stray cat now bursting with energy and joy.
And while they might lose a little sleep, Nadia and her partner wouldn’t have it any other way.
