When Rhea Montavon visited her local shelter, one cat made her decision easy. Gibby marched right up to her, and from that moment on, they’ve been inseparable. As with many cats, Gibby comes with plenty of antics — but Montavon wouldn't have it any other way.
Back when Montavon had a work printer, Gibby loved to “help” her scan documents, often pawing at the papers or lying in the way. Recently, she upgraded to a new printer that also came with a copier — and that’s when Gibby’s artistic side unexpectedly emerged.

“As I was setting it up, he of course wanted to check it out,” Montavon told The Dodo. “So I opened the lid, and he plopped right on top. I just knew I had to do a scan.”
She wasn’t sure what the copier would capture — but what came out was both adorable and surreal.

“He watched the whole process very seriously,” she said. “I pet him to make sure he was comfortable. He didn’t flinch. He just laid there, completely calm, and watched the paper come out.”
The resulting print was a quirky image of Gibby’s paws — floating like little ghost beans on a blank background. Montavon instantly loved the oddball artwork.
“I absolutely loved it,” she said. “It’s currently hanging on the wall!”

Of course, Gibby’s masterpiece came at a cost. “I made two scans of his beans,” Montavon said, laughing. “And somehow used up 75 percent of the black ink right away.”
Still, she says it was worth it — for the art, the memory, and the delight of turning a curious cat moment into an unexpected creation.
