For days, two dogs sat quietly on a porch in Price Hill, Ohio, watching the world go by.
They didn’t bark. They didn’t chase anyone. They just waited — as if they believed someone, anyone, would finally stop to help.
One of the dogs, Sampson, was missing a leg. The other, Boss, stayed close by his side, as if he knew his brother needed extra protection. Both were painfully thin and covered in sadness.
Neighbors started posting photos of the pair on Facebook, begging for someone to rescue them. And before long, Rescue Me Animal Advocacy saw the posts — and couldn’t look away.
“We normally don’t rescue from that area,” said Kim Bush, the organization’s president, “but when we saw their faces, we knew we couldn’t leave them there.”

Within hours, the team arrived to bring the brothers to safety. They were rushed straight to the vet, where they finally got food, warmth, and care for the first time in a long while.
“They look so much better now — so much healthier,” Bush said. “But sadly, we still haven’t found them a home.”

Since November, Sampson and Boss have been living together at a boarding facility. Everyone there adores them — but no matter how kind the staff are, it’s not the same as being part of a family.
“We keep paying for their boarding,” Bush said. “The staff takes amazing care of them, but it breaks our hearts that no one’s adopted them yet.”

The two brothers have very different personalities, but both are full of love. Boss is energetic and playful — the kind of dog who’d love a backyard and an active family. Sampson, the sweet tripod, just wants to curl up beside someone and feel safe.
“They could be adopted together or separately,” Bush explained. “But they’ll both do best in homes without other pets. They just need love.”

From the moment Sampson and Boss left that lonely porch, their lives began to change. They’re healthy, warm, and finally cared for. But what they’re still waiting for — what they’ve always wanted — is someone to call their own.
“I can only imagine the relief they felt that first night,” Bush said. “To finally be fed, warm, and safe.”

They’ve come such a long way from the day they were left behind. Now, all that’s missing is their happy ending.
