The Anti-Cruelty Society’s annual Fall In Love adoption event in Chicago was a massive success. In just a few short hours, every single cat and dog waiting for a home had been adopted.
Well — almost every one.
By the end of the day, only one pup remained at the shelter: a sweet dog named Elvis.

More than 60 pets had found their forever families, yet Elvis was still waiting. Staff members had watched him meet with potential adopters throughout the event, but, for one reason or another, his adoption never went through.
“We were heartbroken for sweet Elvis,” said staff member Emily Shekleton.
When the excited voices of adopters faded and the kennels grew quiet, Elvis sat in his run, watching people walk by. He was the only one left.

Shelter staff and volunteers rallied around him, making sure he got plenty of extra cuddles and reassurance. Still, everyone hoped the right family would soon come along.
And they did.

Just a few days later, after word spread about Elvis being the last pup without a home, a family stepped forward — and they turned out to be his perfect match.
“His new adopter is a former Elvis impersonator!” Shekleton shared.

Now, Elvis has officially “left the building.” His new family already had a bed and a pile of toys waiting for him, and they promised to give him all the love and care he deserves.
“Elvis’ adopters said they’re ready to put in the work to make sure he’s cared for, loved, and spoiled,” Shekleton said.
From being the last dog left behind to becoming the star of his very own love story, Elvis finally has the happy ending he’d been waiting for.
