Lucifer has been mischievous ever since he was a kitten, keeping his mom, Kathryn Welsh, constantly on her toes. And when the holidays roll around, his favorite target is always the Christmas tree.
“Every year he’s in the tree,” Welsh told The Dodo. “I had to stop getting a real one because he was such a little devil — climbing inside it, drinking the water, knocking everything off. Now that he’s older, he thinks it’s even more fun to hide and then pounce when you least expect it.”

This year, Welsh was relaxing in front of her tree, admiring the decorations, when an odd feeling crept over her — the unmistakable sense that she wasn’t alone. She scanned the room but couldn’t find Lucifer anywhere.
Until she did.
“There was just this feeling of being watched,” Welsh said. “Then we locked eyes. He really thought he was being stealthy.”

Perfectly camouflaged among the branches, Lucifer had tucked himself deep inside the tree. Welsh burst out laughing and snapped a photo of his hiding spot, later sharing it on Facebook and challenging others to find him.
Turns out, it’s harder than it looks.

“People are really struggling to spot him,” Welsh said. “Reading the comments has been hilarious. I’ve even shown the photo at work — it’s all been great fun, just like Lucifer.”

Welsh loves that Lucifer’s holiday antics have brought joy far beyond her living room. And knowing him, this won’t be the last time he turns the Christmas tree into a game of festive hide-and-seek.
One thing’s for sure: Lucifer is spreading plenty of holiday cheer — whether anyone can find him or not. 🎄🐱
