Family Watches In Amazement As Their Black Dog Slowly Changes Color

When Miles Webs was a teenager, he brought home a tiny puppy with jet-black fur. Like most people, he assumed her coat would stay that way for the rest of her life.

But several years later, something surprising began to happen.

From the moment she joined the family, Beobi — a lively Labrador Retriever — had always stood out for her bold, sassy personality. Yet in 2023, the playful pup became even more unique when a small white spot suddenly appeared beneath one of her eyes.

At first, the change seemed minor.

At the time, Webs was away on a family trip, and his wife was the first to notice the new mark forming on Beobi’s face.

“While I was gone, my wife started seeing these white spots appear,” Webs said. “We thought maybe it was from stress or anxiety because I was away.”

When Webs returned home, Beobi greeted him with her usual excitement — but the strange mark hadn’t disappeared. Instead, it had grown.

“It started as a small spot,” Webs said. “Then it slowly turned into a crescent shape under her eye.”

Over the following months, the change continued.

The once-solid black coat began developing more white areas around her eyes. A year later, when Webs left for another annual family trip, the transformation seemed to accelerate even faster.

“It suddenly started spreading much more quickly,” he said.

While he was away, his family kept sending him photo updates — each one showing new white patches appearing across Beobi’s fur.

Friends and relatives were fascinated by the transformation. Family members who hadn’t seen Beobi recently kept asking for updated photos just to see how different she looked now.

Her once-dark coat was slowly turning into something entirely new.

Despite the dramatic visual change, Beobi herself didn’t seem bothered in the slightest.

A visit to the veterinarian confirmed that she was still perfectly healthy and as happy as ever.

“The vet didn’t see any health problems,” Webs said. “She’s still the same joyful dog she’s always been.”

Although Beobi didn’t receive a formal diagnosis, her family believes the change is likely caused by Vitiligo — a condition that causes pigment to fade in patches on the skin or fur.

In dogs, vitiligo is rare but harmless.

Now, two years after that first tiny spot appeared, Beobi’s coat has transformed dramatically. White patches now decorate her head, ears and parts of her body, giving her a striking new look.

For Webs, watching the change has been both surprising and special.

“I’ve loved seeing her transform from a completely black Lab to what she looks like now,” he said. “She’s always been my beautiful baby.”

And no matter what color her fur becomes, that will never change. 🐾
