Earlier this month, Lauren Adam gathered with friends at a cottage in Ontario to celebrate Canada Day.
As the group sat down to enjoy a barbecue feast, laughter and conversation filled the air — until an unusual sight made everyone pause.
Right through the hole in the center of the patio table — the one meant for an umbrella — a nose suddenly popped up.

Someone else had joined the dinner party.
It wasn’t a neighbor or a curious critter, though. It was Adam’s beloved dog, Wesson, who had quietly wedged himself underneath the table. His mission was clear: sniff out the food and see if anyone would share.

“We all knew he had crammed himself under the table, but didn’t expect the nose,” Adam told The Dodo.
Naturally, Wesson’s persistence paid off — he scored a snack for his efforts, along with plenty of laughs from everyone at the table. For Adam, it was just another classic “Wesson moment.”

“Being a Weimaraner and a sporting breed, his nose knows when food is around!” Adam said. “When we noticed him sniffing through the umbrella hole in the table, we couldn’t help but laugh. Wesson’s personality is silly, goofy and full of energy.”

At home, Wesson has a reputation for sneaking under tables, but when he’s not on food patrol, he’s out winning hearts.
“He’s been my sidekick [since the day I met him],” Adam said. “He is kind to all he meets, human and dogs alike. We call him the ‘Walmart Greeter’ of the neighborhood! He is so sweet and has the kindest temperament.”

It’s safe to say Wesson had just as much fun at the cottage as the humans did — and his hilarious cameo at the dinner table made the holiday even more memorable.
“My friends love him as much as I do,” Adam said.
