When Marvin was adopted, his family expected the usual kitten antics — playful chaos, climbing the furniture, and maybe the occasional knocked-over glass. What they didn’t expect was a full-blown obsession with water.
From the very beginning, Marvin showed signs he was no ordinary cat. He loved splashing in his water bowl and was endlessly curious about the bathroom, especially whenever someone was taking a shower. Perched on the edge of the tub, he’d watch intently, almost mesmerized by the falling water.
Then one day, he decided watching just wasn’t enough.
Without hesitation, Marvin leapt straight into the running shower — and immediately started gleefully splashing around. Drenched from whiskers to tail, he didn’t seem to care one bit. If anything, he looked completely at home. It was clear: this kitten loved the water.
“We figured he was OK with water, but this is next level — he’s basically a sea otter,” Marvin’s mom shared in a video documenting his unexpected aquatic adventure.
At first, they thought it might be a fluke. But just days later, when Marvin’s mom turned her back while drawing a bath, he jumped in again — this time claiming the tub as his own. He paddled around like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Now, Marvin can’t get enough. If anyone’s headed to the bathroom, he’s right there, hoping for another chance to splash around. His family even bought him special fish toys to enjoy during his “kitty baths.” They’ve started introducing him to the beach, too — though the ocean is still a bit intimidating for now.
When they adopted Marvin, his family thought they were bringing home a typical kitten. Instead, they got a water-loving, bath-crashing, sea otter in disguise — and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
