Man Seeks Community Help to Find Missing Dog, Ruby
A man visiting family in Cedar Falls is desperately seeking help to locate his beloved dog, Ruby. Travis Sink and Ruby share an extraordinary bond, spending nearly every moment of the day together.
Ruby even accompanies Sink to work, making her disappearance during their trip from Florida especially heartbreaking.
A Bond Like No Other
Sink describes Ruby as more than just a pet; she’s his constant companion. “I don’t know too many people who have a dog that’s around them more,” Sink shared.
“I take her to work with me, I tend not to go to restaurants unless they’re pet-friendly. She’s with me 24 hours a day, and she loves people.”
Despite being 10 years old, Ruby’s energy and charm make her seem like a puppy to everyone she meets.
The Day Ruby Went Missing
Ruby went missing on December 23, just two days into their trip to Cedar Falls. She was last seen in downtown Cedar Falls that same day.
Since then, there have been no sightings, leading Sink to believe that a kind-hearted family may have taken her in to protect her from the cold.
“There hasn’t been any sightings since that day,” Sink explained. “What we’re feeling is somebody probably took her in because it was cold, and they might not have social media or access to a computer.”
Community Rallies Around Search Efforts
The Cedar Falls community has come together to support Sink in his search for Ruby. Local businesses have generously helped raise a $1,000 reward for anyone who can help locate her. “Everybody’s been fantastic,” Sink said. “The support has been overwhelming, and I’m incredibly grateful.”
How to Help Find Ruby
Ruby is a 35-pound Whippet and Labrador mix. She was last seen without her collar, which had fallen off before she went missing.
