Postal Worker Finds Heartwarming Note Protecting Tiny Mailbox Resident

While on her regular delivery route, a postal worker named Chelle came across something unexpected inside one of the mailboxes — not just a spider, but a handwritten plea to protect her.

The note read:
“Dear Postal Service … There is a big, beautiful jumping spider living here. Please don’t hurt her! She wants a safe place to lay her eggs.”

Sure enough, nestled in the corner was a small spider. Her name was Norma.

The mailbox’s owner, Cassie, had grown fond of Norma and wanted to make sure she was safe. She even shared the story on TikTok, saying, “Call me crazy if you want to … But I love the critters most would instantly kill.”

To Cassie’s surprise, she soon found a note in return:

“No worries. I love spiders, too.”

Cassie was thrilled to discover that her mail carrier shared her appreciation for misunderstood creatures.

“Thankfully, my mail lady understands my love for the outcasts and is very careful when she leaves my mail,” Cassie said.

Norma had laid eggs in Cassie’s mailbox the year before and returned this spring to do it again. It was a sign of trust — a safe haven chosen twice.

Jumping spiders often seek quiet, secure places like mailboxes to protect their eggs.

While some might see them as unwelcome guests, others, like Cassie, treat them as neighbors.

Cassie’s videos have even helped change minds, showing just how harmless and endearing these little arachnids can be.

As one commenter joked,
“Get a new mailbox. Norma has squatter’s rights. It’s hers now.”
