Phoebe and Tabitha had spent their entire lives waiting for a gentle touch. The two Great Danes lived in an overcrowded rural Georgia shelter, where love and care were hard to come by.

Then one day, their world got even smaller. A nearby farmer found them wandering near his property and threatened to shoot if they returned. The sisters’ time was running out — until compassion stepped in.
When local animal advocates heard about the dogs’ plight, they rushed to help. A veterinary technician and an animal control officer arrived just in time. And the moment Phoebe and Tabitha saw them, something inside the dogs broke open.

“They clung to the first human who showed them compassion after a life spent just trying to survive,” the rescue group Hounds in Pounds shared in a Facebook post.
The rescuers carefully loaded the pair into their vehicle and brought them straight to one of Hounds in Pounds’ veterinary partners, where they finally received warmth, food, and medical care — things they had been denied for far too long.

Now, for the first time, Phoebe and Tabitha are safe. They’re resting, healing, and learning what it feels like to be loved. But they still need one more miracle: a foster home.
“We urgently need foster homes to provide a safe and loving place where they can find peace and calm while waiting for their forever families,” the organization wrote.
Though they’re large in size, Phoebe and Tabitha are gentle souls — calm on a leash, affectionate, and full of gratitude. “These girls aren’t just stunning,” the group added. “They’re gentle, loving, and filled with the softness Great Danes are known for.”

It won’t be long before someone sees in them what rescuers already do — two beautiful hearts finally free from fear.
Until then, Phoebe and Tabitha can rest easy, knowing they’ll never be alone again. 💕
