When volunteers at Friends of Marshall Animal Shelter (FMAS) in Marshall, Texas, first met Duncan, he was barely more than skin and bones — a pink, wrinkled stray in visible agony.
The tiny pup’s skin was raw and inflamed, covered in scabs from a severe case of mange. But despite his condition, his rescuers saw hope in his eyes — and they were determined to help him heal.

FMAS quickly placed Duncan with an experienced foster family and created a daily care routine centered on gentle medicated baths.
These baths weren’t just about soothing his skin; they were moments of love and reassurance.
Each time, Duncan’s foster family wrapped him in care, whispering affirmations that he was safe, loved, and on his way to a better life.

Amazingly, within just one week, Duncan’s transformation began. His once raw skin started to calm and smooth. Speckles began to appear across his healing body, and for the first time, patches of fur peeked through.
“A little medicine and a loving foster go a long way,” FMAS shared on Facebook.

Week by week, Duncan blossomed. By the time he was ready for adoption, he looked like a brand-new dog — covered in soft white fur with playful black spots.

FMAS joked he might have a bit of Dalmatian in him, but what mattered most was the joy he radiated.

After months of recovery, Duncan finally found his forever home in November. Fully healed and thriving, he’s now living the life every dog deserves: safe, loved, and surrounded by family.
While his rescuers miss him dearly, they couldn’t be prouder of how far he’s come.
