When a group of dogs arrived at The Little Guild in West Cornwall, Connecticut, after being transferred from an overcrowded shelter in Georgia, one dog immediately caught everyone’s attention. Her name was Jodi — and staff could see right away she was someone truly special.
Back in Georgia, Jodi had already stolen many hearts. She’d lived with one family for seven years before being surrendered to the shelter, leaving staff heartbroken for her.
“Jodi meant a lot to the staff and volunteers from their shelter,” said Kelsey Turick, an employee at The Little Guild. “Volunteers cried when they found out we were going to take in Jodi and find her a home!”

When Jodi first arrived in Connecticut, she was clearly confused and afraid. She didn’t understand why her family was gone or why she was suddenly surrounded by strangers.
“She was very scared when she first got here and just wanted to go home,” Turick said.
But with time, love, and patience, Jodi began to trust again. Slowly, her personality started to shine through, revealing a sweet, affectionate, and playful soul.

“She has a great personality and always wants to be with people,” Turick said. “She loves to play fetch outside but also loves to snuggle up under a blanket with you. She is an older gal, but she still has lots of energy and loves her daily walks … She is a very special girl and means a lot to us.”

Despite being wonderful with dogs, cats, and kids, Jodi is still waiting for the perfect family to walk through the door. She has had some adoption interest and even has a family planning to meet her soon — and everyone at the shelter is crossing their fingers that this will finally be her chance.
For now, Jodi has a whole team of people in both Georgia and Connecticut cheering her on. They know the right family is out there — a family who will see her for the loyal, loving dog she is and never let her go again.
