
14. Giving Unexpected Baths

Dog’s don’t like baths, much like young children. Unlike children, you can’t explain baths in a way that dogs truly understand. For animals with a keen sense of smell, they have no problem being dirty.
It’s important to remember that bodies of water can be very dangerous to animals, they don’t want to drown. You have to be gentle with dogs, especially as you train them for bathing. Don’t hose them down and get upset when they freak out.
Draw the water and then ease the dog into it slowly and gently. You need to be calm at all times. If you aren’t acting nervous, the dog will be less likely to be nervous.
