A few years ago, Jessica Salinas opened her home to someone in need. Her new roommate, Pippy, was down on her luck with nowhere else to go. Wanting to help, Salinas offered her a place to stay — no strings attached.
But Pippy got very comfortable. Maybe a little too comfortable.

To this day, she hasn’t chipped in for rent, groceries, or utilities. In fact, she hasn’t contributed a single cent to household expenses. No job. No savings. And absolutely no intention of changing that.

“She’s never once helped with the dishes,” Salinas told The Dodo. “I’ve given her a good, comfortable life. Clearly.”

While Salinas heads off to work every day, Pippy lounges around without a care in the world.

Her responsibilities begin and end with finding the coziest spot to nap — often taking over the bathroom sink or sprawled out in the middle of the living room.

To Pippy, this is the hustle.
And while she may not have a busy schedule, she does manage to be a commanding presence. Friends who stop by to visit Salinas are often greeted with silent, skeptical stares from Pippy, who doesn’t warm up easily to strangers.

“She can be a little judgmental,” Salinas joked. “It gets awkward.”

With her complete lack of household contribution and tendency to hog shared spaces, it’s hard to deny the truth that more and more people have been pointing out:
Pippy is, without question, a freeloader.
But Salinas already knows that — and she doesn’t mind one bit.

Because, as it turns out, Pippy isn’t just any mooching roommate. She’s Salinas’ beloved cat.
“She holds a special place in my heart,” Salinas said. “It’s very worthwhile having her around — even if she is a freeloader who takes advantage.”
