If you stumbled upon this creature without context, you might think you were seeing something out of a sci-fi movie — a dark, fluffy orb with a single, unblinking eye in the center. It’s unsettling, mysterious, and oddly mesmerizing.
But look again — and from a different angle — and the truth becomes clear: it’s just a Pomeranian. A very fluffy, oddly shaped, and hilariously deceptive Pomeranian.

Photos of this surreal-looking pup recently went viral after Vinci DeLaunc posted them on Reddit, revealing that the “cyclops orb” is actually his brother’s dog.
No Photoshop tricks here — it’s simply a clever combination of her black fur and white snout, giving her the illusion of being a living eyeball from certain viewpoints.
“She really looks like that 24/7 from my height,” DeLaunc wrote. “She looks like one giant eye all the time. My brother has to put a scarf on her to break the illusion.”
Adding to the eerie effect, the dog has a quiet, almost ghostly presence. She doesn’t bark, doesn’t make a fuss — she simply wanders the house, her claws clicking softly on the floor.
“It’s really jarring in person,” DeLaunc added.
After the post hit Reddit, the internet couldn’t get enough. People were stunned, amused, and thoroughly entertained by the dog’s visual illusion.
“I thought it was an optical illusion at first!” one commenter wrote.

Others dubbed her everything from “a furry Mike Wazowski” to “a cyclops cotton ball.”
Naturally, artists took to drawing her as cartoon characters, inspired by her unintentional oddball charm.

But no matter what she resembles from afar — an alien, a spooky orb, or a Pixar character — she’s just a sweet little Pomeranian with a knack for catching people off guard.
Sometimes, appearances really can be deceiving.
