When Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy, heard about three dogs abandoned in a Southern California neighborhood, she knew this rescue would be different. Not only were there multiple dogs, but they were so deeply bonded that they refused to let anyone — even rescuers — near them.
Neighbors had first noticed the trio after their former family cruelly dumped them with nothing more than a thin blanket, an old box, and each other.
“The dogs literally just stayed there,” Hall told The Dodo. “They were so scared.”

Through storms and cold nights, the pups clung to one another, curling up on the blanket for warmth as they waited in vain for their family to return.
Neighbors tried to help, leaving out food and water, but the dogs would dart away the moment anyone approached. Eventually, desperate for help, they called Hall.

When Hall arrived, she spotted only the blanket at first. Then, to her surprise, the dogs stirred — all three had been huddled tightly underneath it, trying to keep warm.
“I saw the blanket, but I didn’t see them,” Hall said. “So I decided to get out of my car and look, and then they all just woke up. They were underneath the blanket cuddled up.”
It had recently stormed in the Southern Californian neighborhood, and the puppies were doing everything they could to stay warm. Hall could tell instantly that rescuing all three pups was going to be complicated because of how close they were, but she knew she had to give it a shot anyway.

Hall set up humane traps, hoping food would lure them in. One pup quickly entered, but instead of following, the other two circled his trap anxiously, refusing to leave his side.
“They just wanted their friend,” Hall said. “It was so adorable but so sad.”
Determined not to separate them, Hall changed her strategy. She placed their friend’s trap inside her van and hid nearby. Sure enough, the two dogs rushed in to be close to him — and Hall was able to close the door behind them.

The reunion was immediate and heart-melting.
“When I got in the van, the two were jumping on their friend’s trap, so I opened it,” Hall said. “They all snuggled together, just so happy to be reunited.”

The trio — now named Naomi, Adam, and Jacob — were taken to Camino Pet Hospital for checkups. Vets discovered they were senior dogs in need of dental care, but otherwise in good health. Since then, they’ve been showering staff with kisses and, of course, napping in one big cuddle pile.
Hall hopes to find them a foster or adoptive home where they can stay together.
“I would love for them to stay together because they’re so bonded,” she said. “You can tell they’re related — they just love each other so much.”
For now, Naomi, Adam, and Jacob are safe, warm, and loved — a family still intact, waiting for their forever home.
