After nearly 12 hours on the road, all truck driver Fitz Francois wanted was to finish his last delivery and head home. But the universe had other plans — and they came wrapped in fur, grease, and a very persistent meow.
As Francois walked back toward his truck after a drop-off, he suddenly paused. A faint sound caught his ear. Something strange. Something close.

He brushed it off at first. Probably just city noise, he thought. But then, as he returned with his hand truck in tow, the sound grew louder. Sharper. Urgent.
“I started hearing meowing — really aggressive, really close,” Francois said. “It felt like it was coming from inside the trailer.”
A Surprise Stowaway
Francois immediately began searching — checking every inch of his truck, looking under the chassis, behind the wheels, even climbing back inside the trailer. Nothing.
Until suddenly… a small, cautious head peeked out from behind the truck’s suspension coils.

A tiny white-and-gray kitten, wide-eyed and trembling, stared back at him.
“I have no idea how she got there,” he said. “Maybe she climbed in during a delivery. But the spot she was in… it’s almost like she was placed there. It’s wild to think about.”
Somehow, she had survived hours of bouncing highways and shifting cargo — clinging to life in one of the coldest, most dangerous parts of the vehicle. Francois was stunned. And instantly concerned.
Winning Her Trust
Not wanting to scare her, Francois dashed into a nearby store and returned with a treat, gently coaxing her from her hiding spot. The kitten was hesitant, her body taut with fear — but hunger and instinct won out.
“She didn’t trust me at first,” Francois said. “But after a few minutes, she realized I wasn’t a threat. That’s when she just crawled into my hand — and hasn’t left since.”

He wrapped her in a towel, placed her gently in the cab, and drove to his hotel for the night. There, he gave her the gentlest bath he could manage — just water, no soap — and held her close until she fell asleep in his arms.
It was the first quiet moment either of them had had in a long time.

From Stranger to Soulmate
By the next morning, they were inseparable. At the vet, the newly named Micki refused to be handled by anyone else, squirming to return to the only place she felt safe — Fitz’s arms.
“Within two hours, I was totally in love,” Francois said. “The vet said she was perfectly healthy. No fleas, no ticks. Just a little angel.”

That was all he needed to hear. Micki wasn’t going anywhere.
The Journey Continues
Now, just days later, the two are already an unbreakable duo — hitting the road together with a bond that feels years in the making.

Francois never expected to gain a best friend when he clocked in that day. But now, he can’t imagine life without her.
“She’s the one thing I didn’t know I needed,” he said. “It was the cat distribution system — and I was chosen.”
